Wednesday - The Hot List, Get on the Bus, Books of the Week

Great book for tween girls written by local author, Hillary Homzie!  "The Hot List"

hillaryhomzie.com

Get on the Bus - Nonprofit staffed by volunteers who bus children to visit their parent in prison.  What a powerful interview!  These children fly under the radar and are often forgotten.  But research has shown that kids who are allowed to visit incarcerated parents do better in every way - socially to educationally, and the rate of recidivism for the incarcerated parents goes DOWN!

Tuesday - Children's Mental Health and film screening of "Happy"

What a powerful interview with ParentsCAN advocate and parent of a child with bipolar disorder, Christine Lieber!  She told us her personal story with her daughter, and also reminded us of the valuable resource that is ParentsCAN.  Even if your child is NOT diagnosed and you only have concerns, you can call them!  They have so much information, guidance and support for you.

Their open house is today from 4 to 6, 1909 Jefferson St. in Napa.  For more information call them at 707.253.7444 or visit their website  parentscan.org

Comedian and inspirational speaker, Mike Pritchard, teamed up with film maker, Roko Bellic, this morning for a preview of Roko's latest documentary film, "Happy" playing Thursday night at the Napa Valley Opera House.  Both will be there to answer your questions and present this fascinating look at what TRULY makes people happy...and what does not!  I definitely want to go to this.
